Pickles

shontay luna

They are heat,
flames of taste that
warm mildly. The epitome
of spice. They are also
crunchiness and joy.
Full of a freshness derived
of the Earth.
Freshly harvested goodness
from Nature’s bounty
to the jar.
In which to consume them
is to experience utter happiness.
The balance is right and equal.
Bliss upon opening the jar,
bliss in the first chip, bliss
in the last. They are made well
and one can tell, from the
very first bite.
